JOB TITLE: Teller
DEPARTMENT: Tellers
PAY RANGE: $18 - $20 an hr. (dependent on experience)
JOB DESCRIPTION
1. Primary Purpose of the Job: Assist bank customers with routine banking transactions in a courteous, accurate, and professional manner.
2. Primary Duties of the Job: Process customer transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, check cashing, and loan payments. Assist customers by phone with account balances, transfers, stop payments, wire transfers, gift cards, savings bonds, and safe deposit box services.
3. Secondary Duties of the Job: Support daily teller operations, including night deposits, deposit bags, account card filing, cashier’s checks, money orders, coin wrapping, mail, and drive-up service. Assist other departments as needed and learn procedures for replenishing ATM cassettes.
4. Required Education, Skills, Licenses, Computer Programs, or Experience: High school education required. Prior teller experience is preferred but not required. Must provide strong customer service, maintain accuracy, pay close attention to detail, and be comfortable handling large amounts of cash.
5. Physical Requirements: Typical schedule is 38 to 40 hours per week and may include lobby, drive-up, and Saturday hours. The position requires sitting, standing, frequent movement, and lifting coin bags weighing approximately 20 to 25 pounds.
6. Mental Requirements: Maintain focus and accuracy in a busy, customer-facing environment. Work effectively with others and respond professionally to customer concerns.
7. Equipment Used: Computer, 10-key calculator, telephone, fax machine, copy machine, and Vertex teller program.
8. Safety Hazards of the Job: Moderate stress related to customer-facing financial transactions and standard bank security procedures.
